This story has been dedicated to our late H.O.G. Chapter Director Andy Stevens (standing, far left, bottom picture). He was the CHP officer killed on Nov. 17, 2005 during a routine traffic stop in Woodland. He was instrumental on makeing this day a reality.
On Sunday morning, April 17, 45 members of the Auburn Gold Country HOG Chapter (loud pipes and all!) made a little boy's dream come true. David Davison, who turned 13, always wanted to ride on a Harley® motorcycle. His neighbor contacted Auburn Harley-Davidson who put her in touch with their local HOG Chapter who jumped at the chance (as they always do) to do a good deed. After riding to breakfast at Mom's in Colfax (a great place for breakfast!), they rode up to surprise David at his house in Meadow Vista. David, who suffers from a form of Muscular Dystrophy is confined to a wheelchair but with a little effort from his dad & friends was lifted into a Harley-Davidson® sidecar, driven by members Rick & Connie Naef. After figuring out that he was in fact going to be able to get out once he got in, David settled down for what was a dream come true. Escorted by all 45 members of the chapter, they went on a mile or so ride. On the way back, Connie gave up her seat on the back of the Ultra and David's dad joined them for the ride home.
David was then made a honorary member of the Auburn Gold Country HOG Chapter and invited to attend a meeting any time he would like. It was a day that brought a tear to some if not all of those in attendance. | |
