 Thundering Harley-Davidson® motorcycles incite passion in a lot of people. Boxy, brown UPS trucks generally don't. And after 27 years with UPS, Bob Holmes was ready to find something he could feel passionate about. "I guess I was just ready for a change." stated Bob Holmes, owner of Auburn H-D. Bob didn't drive a truck. He was a manager for 22 of those 27 years, but he was ready to give his old employer a lot of credit for the success of his Harley-Davidson dealership. UPS was a highly regimented, highly structured environment that Bob still has great respect for and he wouldn't want to be in the Harley business without that prior background. Bob is a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast. He purchased his first Harley® bike in 1996. But it soon became apparent that it wasn't just the Harley he loved but the people, the camaraderie among Harley riders. In June of 1998, a chance meeting with the previous owners brought about Bob's purchase of what became Auburn Harley-Davidson. The Buell® line was added a little later.
This is a family affair. Everyone who passes through our doors is considered part of our family. We treat them like we would like to be treated, with warmth and respect. Bob has three daughters, Melissa, who is Auburn Harley-Davidson's Office Manager, Alexandra (19), who is attending college in Colorado, and Elizabeth (17), whose passion is showing her Morgan horse, Slick. Bob recently got married, Juanita, his new wife is a Branch Mgr. for Wells Fargo Bank here in Auburn and has a daughter, Natalie, who attends St. Joseph Parish School.
Bob's vision for Auburn Harley-David/Buell was to be a vital part of the community. Auburn H-D has contributed thousands of dollars in the past 9 years to many charities throughout the community, including Boys & Girls Club, Senior Center and Horses for Healing. Bob is on the Board of many local charities including Red Cross, Auburn Community Cancer Endowment Fund and has been working closely with Auburn Rotary. Auburn H-D assists St. Joseph Parish School each year with a motorcycle for their yearly fundraiser. We are currently donating $1 per shirt purchased (A H-D® shirt with Auburn's own Courthouse on the back)to the Bowman Elementary School.
Auburn Harley-Davidson/Buell is an award winning dealership. Winning Harley-Davidson's prestigious Gold Bar & Shield Award for customer service along with the Award for Excellence in Service. The only dealership in Harley-Davidson's history to win both awards at one time.
